Our Story

They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.

Acts 2:42 (The Message)

How it all started...

West Cobb Church began in 1994 with an idea to start a community-based church that would be on mission for God in the west Cobb area. This vision was shared by seven people who began meeting in a home for Bible study on Wednesday evenings. Soon this little group grew too big for the house and  later that year, WCC went public with Sunday morning worship services. The Church began with only 13 members meeting at a county owned facility, Boots Ward gymnasium. Every Sunday the dedicated little christian family would unload their small trailer full of tech and chairs for the church service, and then afterwards would load it back up in preparation for next week. It was hard work but they had faith God had big things in store for their church. Galatians 6:9 promises, "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." West Cobb Church certainly did not give up and God blessed their dedication.

By 1996, land was purchased and the church was meeting at our current location in two modular buildings. God had answered one of our prayers in giving us a permanent place to call home, but He still required a lot of work and faith from the church. Through the next several years WCC grew because of its caring and supportive members. The church became a place of peace and healing for people who had been burnt out on or burnt by other churches. It also became a place of hope and grace for those who had never experienced a relationship with Jesus.

Expanding the vision...

With continued growth and blessings, the current facility was built in 2006. West Cobb Church saw incredible increase in its members and its community. With new growth comes a lot of opportunities for changes.

Change is always hard, but God is always good. It is because of God's goodness that we know God isn't done with our story. Through everything, God has always had his hand on WCC because we still have a story to tell. Our story, like everyone's, has its fair share of highs and lows but God has been consistent throughout. God promises, "where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20) God is with us. He is for us. He is for you.

Where we are headed...

At West Cobb Church we see life change daily. We are a church full of imperfect and fallible people who look to a perfect God for grace.  It is with God's grace that we can say welcome to everyone who walks in the doors. It is with His grace that we can assure you that God has a plan and purpose for your life. It is with His grace that we tell you He loves you and desires a relationship with you. You are not alone in life. Our stories may be different but God is the one consistent narration in each.

WCC is here to help people take ownership and write better stories for their lives. We live everyday knowing that it is a new page in our story, and with God it's a better page than the day before. Excitedly, we look forward to the next chapters of our story and yours...
