West Cobb Counseling Services offers individuals a safe and confidential place to talk about issues such as anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, divorce recovery, identity, and other difficult situations affecting their everyday lives.
Whether it is personal problems, relational issues, family or work situations, professional, competent counseling can help. Our counselors are Licensed Professional Counselors who approach counseling with the understanding that the Bible is our primary resource for guidance and direction.  We help cultivate a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and seek to restore healthy relationships with others. PEGGY HURST

MEd, MA, LPC
Peggy’s life passion has always been to help others. With more than two decades of experience as a School Counselor, she enjoys working with pre-teens and teenagers. She also works with adult individuals, couples and families to improve self-growth, relationships and positive movement towards emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Spiritual and psychological integration is infused in Peggy’s therapy style, along with mindfulness gratitude, and resources for healthy living. Relational Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy are a few of her favorite interventions.

Helping clients set treatment goals and then make progress towards those goals is Peggy’s forte’. Areas of special knowledge include treatment of anxiety and depression, grief and loss issues, emotional regulation, parenting issues, special needs children, career identity, and personality profiles. As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, her primary focus is to help people identify and eliminate error in their thoughts and empower them to pursue healthy living in all areas.

Peggy holds a BS degree from Berry College, an MEd in School Counseling from The University of Georgia and an MA degree from Richmont Graduate University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of GA. Peggy currently works for Thriveworks in Marietta, GA and is an approved provider on twelve insurance panels.

Peggy has lived and worked in the West Cobb community for almost 30 years. She and her husband Joe have three adult sons and are founding members of West Cobb Church. Peggy sings with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra Chorus, enjoys hiking, reading, Precept Bible study, movies and chocolate!

KEN JOHSNON

MA, LPC
Ken Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and provides Christian counseling at East West Psychotherapy Associates, a private practice he founded in 2000. He received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, and his undergraduate degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. Ken's inpatient psychiatric work with children, adolescents and adults includes work with Minirth Meier Clinics and New Life Treatment Centers. His career of providing hope to hurting families and individuals spans 35 years.

Ken's expertise lies in counseling couples, individuals, families, children and adolescents with a variety of issues including anxiety and panic disorders, depression, divorce recovery and family and relationship problems. He enjoys helping children and teens with school and life problems. He holds additional certifications in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Therapy and Play Therapy for children.

He also conducts seminars and workshops in area churches, businesses and schools. Ken integrates the spiritual life of a person into the counseling relationship and offers practical solutions to individuals, couples and families struggling with major hurts and life transitions.

MEET CATHY JOHNSON: CHRISTIAN LIFE COACH

Cathy Johnson is a Professional Christian Life Coach, trained through Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI) and is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). After enjoying a diverse 30-year career in communications, marketing, and writing, she felt God had more for her. After searching for years with questions such as “What is my purpose?” and “What really matters?” she now has the privilege of inviting and empowering others to move forward, finding God’s plan for their relationships, careers and calling.

As a Strengths Champion Certified Coach®, Cathy coaches and conducts workshops to actively encourage individuals and churches, through Gallup StrengthsFinder®, to use their God-given strengths to realize their unique identity and to better serve others.

Christian Life Coaching

WCC’s Christian Coaching ministry offers a safe place to talk through life’s issues that do not need counseling or therapy, with a professionally trained Christian life coach. In one-on-one sessions with Christ-centered conversations, a coach partners with you to explore opportunities and find new perspectives—moving you from where you are now to where you want to be.
